General Information

It is a colorless liquid with a chemical formula C2Cl4, has an ether-like odor. It is highly stable, hydrolyzed. It is used as a solvent in many applications.

Production and Reactions

Perchlorethylene is produced from dichloromethane. Since trichlorethylene is another by-product produced during this reaction, these two chemicals are then separated by distillation.
