General Information

While the chemical formula is soluble in water with C6N6FeK3, in the presence of very little potassium ferricyanide Fe +2 ions in alcohol, it turns blue (Prussian blue) and leads to rusting of the substances. It is also a very harmful substance due to the effect of the cyanide.

Production and Reactions
Potassium Ferricyanide; Reacts with acids and oxidizing agents and decomposes to Hydrogen Cyanide (HCN), which is also a toxic substance. It contributes to the salt in table salt as an additive with other properties of salt.

Usage areas

It is included in the daily meals to avoid the agglomeration of the food salt used. However, this substance is said to cause cancer in over use.

It is used to reduce the size of colored dots in photographs.

Potassium ferricyanide; Many amperometric natural electron transfer agents such as oxygen exchange with enzyme (glucose oxidase) are used.
It is used as oxidizer in metal industry.
