Description

General Information

It is a thick, waxy white material obtained from coconut oil with the chemical formula -CON (C2H4OH). It is used in the production of shampoo shower gel and so on. Cancer research is listed by the agency as a carcinogenic substance in 2D class.

Production and Reactions

Kokamit is an amide mixture of coconut fatty acids. The cocamides are produced by condensation of alkanolamines (mono-, di- or triethanolamine) and coconut fatty acid.
